The Wakefield Bessemer Rotary Club recently hosted the Gogebic Miners Head Football Coach and 4 players that were selected to play in this summer's Upper Peninsula Football All-Star game at one of their weekly meetings. After Coach Nick Heikkila introduced the players, each player reviewed their season long statistics, which lead to their selection to the All-Stars and their contribution to the successful 2025 Gogebic Miners season. Each UP player that is selected to play in the game is responsible for fundraising to help pay for the week-long event. These 4 players received a donation from the Club to be used toward their entry fee. From left to right in the photo are: Richard Matrella, Bessemer High School Superintendent; Gogebic Miners players Patrick Hokans, Leland Hollenbeck, Henry Steiger, and Matt Switzer; Miners Head Coach Nick Heikkila; and Jason Gustafson, Wakefield- Marenisco High School Superintendent. Matrella and Gustafson are members of the Rotary Club.

From February 9-20 we had an Attendance Challenge at ADJ. The sophomore class won with a 98.2% attendance rate. As a reward, they were treated to rootbeer floats today.
Our 1st Wellness Committee will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 3:30 p.m. at ADJ. Please let us know if you are interested in joining.

Bessemer Area High School Grades 9-12, will have the opportunity to go to Powderhorn on Wednesday March 18th for a day of skiing/snowboarding. The permissions slips will be going home with students today, 3/4/2026. Please be sure to turn those in as soon as possible, so that we can get a number for the ski hill. Once they have the number of people, they will generate an online link for parents to read and sign the liability waiver and get the lift ticket/rental.
